Shopee warns of online employment scam

Kuala Lumpur: The public has been alerted to an ongoing scam where individuals pose as Shopee employees offering job opportunities to Shopee through messaging platforms such as WhatsApp. In a statement Wednesday, Shopee said it does not employ anyone to recruit employees through messaging platforms. âShopee also confirms that there is no such role as ‘online shopping agents’ in the organization.

“Therefore, Shopee wishes to remind Malaysians to be vigilant and aware of these scams, and not to fall prey to these bogus job offers,” he said in a statement. If a member of the public is offered questionable employment opportunities or falls victim to such scams, contact the nearest police station and file a police report immediately.
