Job Offer: St. Louis Cardinals Fellowship Positions

Position: Front Office Fellowship (full time)

Summary of Responsibilities:
The St. Louis Cardinals are currently seeking applicants for their 2022 Front Office scholarship. This scholarship is a one-year opportunity – scholars will not return to the same position in 2023. At the end of the scholarship, the Cardinals and the Fellow will jointly determine if there is an appropriate opportunity for full-time employment with the Cardinals. The Fellow will report directly to the Video and Technology team and work on projects under the direction of senior management from the departments of Baseball Development, National and International Scouting, Player Development and Performance. Additional training may be provided on topics ranging from screening to analysis depending on the needs of the team and the interest of the fellow.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated a strong work ethic, impressive intelligence and a deep passion for baseball and / or softball throughout their lifetime. The scholarship will provide such a candidate with a wide range of experiences in baseball operations and the possibility of full-time employment.

  • The Front Office Fellow position is considered a full-time position, including salary, health insurance and benefits.
  • This position runs from the beginning of 2022 to the end of the calendar year

Essential functions of the position:

  • Assist in video capture and processing of domestic amateur, international amateur, and affiliated and unaffiliated professional baseball games.
  • Assist the development of baseball and other groups within baseball operations with the collection and entry of data for analysis
  • Communicate effectively with baseball operations personnel and respond to ad hoc requests as needed

Education and experience required:

  • Current higher or postgraduate college available to start work in early 2022
  • Strong interest and understanding of baseball / softball
  • Strongly prefer previous work experience in a college or professional baseball / softball organization
  • College or professional experience in play and / or training is a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
  • Proficient in computers, iPads and other electronic devices
  • Ability to work weekdays, nights, weekends and holidays

Position: Fellowship affiliated with the minor league (full time)

Summary of Responsibilities:
The St. Louis Cardinals are currently seeking candidates for Minor League Affiliate positions located in each of our National Minor League Affiliates. The Minor League Affiliate Fellow will assist our Minor League coaching staff (manager, batting coach and pitching coach) in handling all aspects of video and technology at the affiliate. Data collected from video and technology will be used to provide feedback to players for development.

Prior to the game, this position will assist minor league coaching staff in managing the distribution, setup and use of all baseball and sports science technology; During the game, this position will help spot the opposing team from the stands, assist minor league coaching staff with Vault technology responsibilities, or validate player video and data. After the game, this post will ensure that all data and videos collected from the day are available for reporting and analysis; and create reports for players and coaches as needed. This position will work directly with the video and tech team and report to the relevant minor league manager for the day-to-day responsibilities of the affiliate.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated a strong work ethic, impressive intelligence and a deep passion for baseball and / or softball throughout their lifetime. The position is seasonal work for the 2022 season only, but may lead to full-time employment in player development, recruiting, or elsewhere within baseball operations.

  • The Minor League Affiliate Member position is considered a full-time position, including salary, health insurance, benefits, and meal money while traveling by car.
  • This position spans from spring training to the end of the minor league season.

  • Contribute to the affiliate coaching staff by managing baseball and sports science technology and affiliate video capture (e.g. Trackman, Blast Motion, Edgertronic Camera, Polar, Whoop, etc.).
  • During the game, depending on the needs of the staff and the interests of the Fellow:
    • Assist minor league coaching staff by managing game technology and video capture from the canoe;
    • Sit behind the plate to spot the opposing team; Where
    • Validate and verify the integrity of the video and data collected for analyzes.
  • Attend spring training and travel with the assigned minor league team on the road

Education and experience required:

  • Current graduate or postgraduate college available to start work during Spring 2022 training
  • Strong interest and understanding of baseball / softball
  • Strongly prefer previous work experience in a college or professional baseball / softball organization
  • College or professional experience in play and / or training is a plus
  • Proven ability to use and troubleshoot baseball or sports science technology (pairing a wearable trackman with an Edgertronic camera, syncing wearable tech with a mobile device, etc.)
  • Familiar with and / or demonstrating willingness to learn technologies such as Blast Motion, Trackman and video integration
  • Interest in Scouting and willingness to write reports, but previous Scouting experience is not required
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
  • Proficient in computers, iPads and other electronic devices
  • Ability to work weekdays, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
